Through the teachings of Identity Shifting through Williams, the idea of master narratives and the eight themes encompassing them from Alexander and Brandt’s ideas of sponsorship – whether good or bad, helped establish the vital theme seen throughout this paper and the importance of literacy narratives all together. Good Outsider and Victim narratives that develop into a Success story send a strong message to the reader and most importantly can bring about hope. Literacy narratives help people tell their story, they help them discover a deeper meaning to literacy and most importantly it helps individuals realize what literacy means to them.
