.) Concerns I had when writing my first draft on the ideas encompassing Gee, Jordan and Delpit included, not fully demonstrating that I had a good handle on the ideas being presented in their texts. Another concern I had was not being able to write a full paper on the idea I had.
.) For the most part my peers liked the evidence I pulled from the texts and how I applied that evidence to the topic of my paper. For instance I quoted, “If teachers were to adopt both of these premises suggested by Gee’s work, not only would they view the acquisition of a new discourse in a classroom impossible to achieve, but they might also view the goal of acquiring such a discourse questionable at best” (Delpit 54). — And Owen N. commented, “This is a great quote, as it shows the evidence of Delpit backing up her claims and helps strengthen your essay”.
.) When relating the information in my paper to Gee, I’m mostly disagreeing with what Gee has to say in his article. My peers suggested that I add a little more information on how the ideas of Jordan’s text correlate to the ideas of Gee.
.) From Jordan’s text I am using the ideas of “Black and Standard English” and using them in my paper to support my claim. Again, my peers think I could better explain how my ideas from Jordan and Gee text’s correlate with one another.
.) Two things my peers suggested for improvement in my paper included adding a generalized paragraph that talks about all three authors to help lengthen my paper. They also suggested I add more information about Jordan and Gee’s texts and how they relate to each other . In my revision I can add a paragraph encompassing all three articles in the beginning of my paper so the reader gets a clearer understanding of what they are reading as well as add more information on Jordan and Gee’s texts and how they correlate with one another. To do this I should add more quotes from Gee’s text and maybe Jordan’s to make my points more specific.
.) By adding additional information into my text involving evidence from Jordan and Gee’s texts, I will help my reader understand more clearly as to what messages I am trying to relay.
